Wallpaper + My Unpopular Opinion

Uncommon opinion posts are so popular right now, so why not start a blog with a super controversial topic?

For the most part, I cringe at the wallpaper trend.

Now, hear me out. When we bought our house, half of it was decorated in thick, textured green wallpaper atop yet another layer of shiny, floral wallpaper. We spent hours spraying, humidifying, and scraping that wallpaper away. So much so that my PTSD is probably the root of this uncommon opinion.

Nesting With Grace

Wallpaper has come a long way and is now likely MUCH easier to remove. That’s the reason so many interior designers and other bloggers love updating their rooms with it. It is a cost effective, easy way to give a room a major refresh.

This little girls’ room by Hartman Haus, for example, is simply precious. The cactus print wallpaper complements the rest of the boho decor so well. The alternating between the cacti also gives it a more organic feel.

This budget bathroom remodel by Cynthia Harper Living is also the perfect example of wallpaper done right. She used subway tile wallpaper to update her bathroom for under $200. You read that right. She absolutely transformed her space for less than TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. Tile can be expensive, and if you just want a quick and easy refresh of a space, wallpaper can do that.

Bold, maximalist prints are also very on trend right now. I’ve yet to see ones that I love love, as my style leans more minimalist.

For now, I’m going to stick with my paint can and roller because this nightmare still haunts me (the wallpaper, not our tiny princess helper).
